On This Day – 8th August

In 1942 Disney’s 5th Animated Classic Bambi, has it’s world premiere in London (despite the ongoing war) Directed by David Hand. It is released by RKO Pictures and based on the 1923 book Bambi, A Life In The Woods by Austrian author, Felix Salten. Bambi features a 40 voice choir Singing songs by Frank Churchill and Larry Morey.

There are only two eighteen second silences in Bambi: When man is in the forest and following the death of Bambi’s mother. The Film Opened in US theatres 5 days later.
